Goseong (b. 1984, South Korea) is a photographic storyteller who explores consciousness and existence through intimate encounters with landscape. His work examines the fragility of life, presence shaped by absence, and nonlinear memory—creating meditative images filled with quiet emotion and what critics describe as a "poetic atmosphere." Rather than representing nature as spectacle, he seeks moments when "humans and the world open themselves to each other," capturing atmospheric states where the familiar and the strange coexist.
His photographs are held in permanent collections at the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, Philadelphia Museum of Art, National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Korea, and Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, among others. Named KT&G SKOPF Artist of the Year (2018) and recipient of the Philadelphia Museum of Art Women's Committee Prize (2014), he holds an MFA in Photography from Pratt Institute.
